My first car was a white Ford Fairlane 500. It was the bomb! White with a red vinyl interior that took me over every sandy road in north Florida I could find. Never got stuck… but I did run out of gas once because I thought I might be able to wean it off gas! 🙂
Ford Company has always been good with slogans. One of the more catchy slogans was “Quality is Job 1”. Ford recognizes that priorities are important and they want the public to know that “quality” in construction of their product is at the top of their list.
Apparently, price is not “Job 1”, styling in not “Job 1”, diversity in hiring practices is not “Job 1”, nor is maintaining their place in the car market “Job 1”. “Quality is Job 1”. I’m not really sure if they mean that or not… I guess we just have to take their word for it. But, I do know someone that, when He speaks, there is no question about His words. That “Someone” is our Creator, God Almighty. And, when Divinity speaks, we can “take it to the bank!” When He speaks, things happen, light shatters darkness, assurance replaces doubt. Sin stains are washed away.
In the New Testament Book of Matthew (6:33), Jesus gave His followers these instructions: “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness…” That sounds to me like the start of something important. Seek first. He knows all of us have trouble keeping priorities straight. Even with the most organized people, the most intentional thinkers and in those with brilliant minds… keeping priorities in order never comes easy since we seem to run toward “shiny” objects… or squirrels!
In this instance, Jesus’ followers were concerned about the physical needs of life… what to wear and what to eat and how to keep a roof overhead. It appears that this quest for security is still alive today! Life is tough! Food is high. Fuel is high. Houses… Yet, the words of the Divine Jesus are as true today as they were when He first said them. The second part of His instruction to “Seek first the Kingdom of God and His Righteousness” is… “and all these things will be added to you.” What things? Things like food, clothing, safety, security, love, friendship, shelter, etc.
My wisdom thought for today is “Don’t worry… be happy! And you can be happy (and joyful) when you put God at the top of every part of your life.” Blessings! JC
